I have officially been away from Bridport and the home my hubby and I have established for nearly four months. Though we were fortunate enough to see each other in December and January to spend the two holidays together it still feels like too long a time and I miss being over there with him. Separations are not fun and even less so when they are forced separations governed by things outside of our immediate control. We are at the point where we can soon begin the process of applying for my spouse visa and thankfully we are 100% certain we meet all the requirements but the cost of this undertaking is high indeed. Still, I am not without hope. Where there’s a will there’s a way, right?
Still I do miss being in our little bungalow, spending time together even if it is just watching a film or talking over coffee (for me) and hot chocolate (for him) while making plans for the weekend. I miss being the housewife waiting for her hubby to come home from work to chat about his day and discussing the every day things, however mundane that may sound. It’s just not the same having to chat via video. We make the most of it and even watch things together each on our own computers, weekends being the most time we spend together since we are both off from work but it’s gut wrenching to have to go to bed each night on our own after being used to being together under one roof.
Our time here for Christmas was lovely, full of activity and life. Sharing in my own family’s traditions at Christmas time with Alan was wonderful and I look forward to sharing in his family’s traditions when the time comes this year. It was really nice to not have to be apart for our first Christmas as a married couple, and what a great Christmas it was! It was the best Christmas present I received hands down.
Picking Alan up from Orlando was so very exciting and I could hardly contain it! We are so fortunate in the family we have that they were all so generous in helping make it possible for us to spend this Christmas with one another. We had a lovely stay at the resort where my mom works for a week and had a fabulous view from the balcony. Florida certainly treated us both very kindly and gave us many photo opportunities…
These memories, they are worth the wait because I know in my heart of hearts that we will be creating many more new memories. When life hands you lemons…throw them really hard back and dance around with joy!
Stay tuned for new updates and all that. Hoping to share a bit with you all about our anniversary which is only a couple of weeks away. Thanks for stopping by!
