The Dorset Apple Cake I made the other day was a big hit with my family so I was asked to make another one but instead of leaving it plain as in the one I posted the recipe for here the other day, I added a bit of a glaze to the top. Nothing goes better with apples in autumn than caramel and we happened to have some Dulce de Leche Caramel Sauce on hand we’d purchased from Williams-Sonoma which is the perfect amount of creamy sweetness for this cake. It’s very simple to do. Just prepare the cake as the recipe calls for and while the cake is still warm, spread an even layer of the caramel sauce on top. It will melt slightly and form a nice rich, caramel coating best served with a scoop or two of ice cream! Enjoy!

Thanks! I just realised that it’s been nearly exactly a year since I made this! Might have to do so again tomorrow! 🙂
